RE: 3rd Newsletter

This article came from DFW Quick:

IF YOU FAIL, DON’T FRET

Just turned down for a business loan in these days of tight credit? In need of some encouragement?

A little book – The Obvious by James Dale – might help. The author writes: “Failure can lead to success. Consider some of the world’s great failures.” Then he gives the following striking examples.

IF AT FIRST YOU DON’T SUCCEED

  • Henry Ford forgot to put in a reverse gear on his first automobile.
  • Thomas Edison invented the perpetual cigar and the cement furniture before the light bulb.
  • Albert Einstein’s parents were told he might be mentally retarded.
  • Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team.
  • Napoleon finished near the bottom of his military school class.
  • Abraham Lincoln failed at many things – Jobs, runs for office, businesses, love – before he found his niche as president of the United States.
  • The Beatles were turned down for recording contract by Decca Records.
  • Steven Spielberg dropped out of school and hung around the house shooting 8mm movies.

Losers take note

  1. Post-it-notes, Jell-O and Timex watches were all failures until perfected or reformulated.
  2. The average entrepreneur fails 3.8 times before succeeding – clearly, learnng something in those first three-plus busts.

Retyped that story from Friday’s Quick, for a reason.

In my last update I told you your next drawing was on Tuesday, September 25th, 2007. Well someone won that Jack Pot of $12 Million.

Mega Millions Jackpot Winner! There was one $12 million jackpot winner from New Jersey in the Tuesday, September 25, 2007 Mega Millions drawing.

I didn’t do any update because nothing had really changed, and on Friday, September 28th, 2007 the Jack Pot remains at $12 Million.

While someone won Mega Millions twice in a row, the same thing happened in Power Ball right after Mega Millions.

"The Nukote 22" Claim Winning Powerball Jackpot of $61.5 Million!

September 27, 2007

Nukote22

A group of current and former employees of Nukote International, a business in Bardstown KY , have stepped forward to claim a $61.5 million Powerball jackpot prize. The cash option for the jackpot is $28.5 million.

This story starts with a group of Nukote employees who pitched in $1 a week for an office pool for the past nine years. The person in charge of the pool who buys the tickets usually makes photocopies of them for the employees at the office. However, some members of the pool have recently left Nukote. Several of them paid in advance to stay in the pool, and the pool’s numbers were e-mailed to them prior to each drawing.

That’s where the excitement began this morning for former Nukote employee Connie Mattingly. “When I got up this morning, I heard the news on TV that the winning Powerball ticket had been sold in Bardstown,” Mattingly said. “I logged on to my computer; saw the e-mail with our numbers, and the very first line matched the winners!”

Mattingly then called the person who bought the tickets, Bardstown resident Jane Shelver. “Jane answered the phone, and I asked her if she was awake yet. Then I told her we won the lottery, and she got so excited she hung up on me!”

Bardstown resident Mike Willett, also one of the winning pool members, said the win couldn’t have come at a better time for several members of the group. “There are a couple of folks who were laid off from their jobs this summer after working for the company 30 years,” said Willet. “However, the paid into the Powerball pool in order to stay in through the end of the year. It looks like things just got a lot easier for them.”

According to their website, Nukote is a company that produces imaging supplies such as paper, ink jet cartridges and laser toner.

The winning ticket was sold on Monday in Bardstown at the 5 Star Food Mart at 120 E. Stephen Foster Avenue. The ticket was a quick-pick, which meant the numbers were generated by computer and not selected by the player. The winning numbers were 25 , 27, 31, 44 and 54 with a Powerball of 8.

The $61.5 million jackpot, the sixth highest in Kentucky Lottery history, if the first Powerball jackpot won in Kentucky since July of 2003.

12:13 am - Powerball Jackpot Winner! There was one $15 million jackpot winner from Louisiana in the Saturday, September 29, 2007 Powerball drawing.

So Power Ball is starting over, again at $15 Million.

But I want you to notice that this was a pool that won. They played for 9 years, each member paying $1.00 per week. Several members left the company but paid their dues in advance and was send their tickets by e-mail.

Is this ringing any bells for you?

Now if you are paying me $10.00 to play you’re paying $2.00 per week. You pay for 5 Tuesdays and 5 Wednesday’s. Now if you buy more than 1 share, you have actually purchase two lines within the group.

This means that if we are doing $1.00 more, and we already invested 3 years into this game, that tells me we only have less than 1.5 years to go for us to win.

Would it not be nice for the Lottery to work that way? But, if you don’t play, you don’t win.

Now on Friday you had another small win. You had 42 as one of your Mega Balls, which pays $2.00. The Mega Ball was 3, so 3 x $2.00 = $6.00 win for this group.

Now, until this Jack Pot gets higher, I intend to hold on to our winnings.

Here is where I will keep our wins until I spend them:

Game 38’s membership list is attached.

Moving Testimony

Three buddies die in a car crash, and they go to heaven.

There, they are all asked, "When you are in your casket and friends and family are mourning, what would you like to hear them say about you?"

The first guy says, "I would like to hear them say that I was a great doctor of my time, and a great family man."

The second guy says, "I would like to hear that I was a wonderful husband and school teacher who made a huge difference in our children of tomorrow."

The last guy replies, "I would like to hear them say, 'Look! He's moving!'"
